The Department of Public Works for the Village of North Fond du Lac provides multiple services to the residents of the village. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Streets
Parks/Recreation Buildings & Grounds The village DPW maintains 18.3 miles of streets. This includes plowing, salting, painting and sweeping. The village park system consists of six park sites ranging in sizes from .25 acre to 13.1 acres. In all, the park system includes 31.3 acres of land. The parks offer a wide range of activities including baseball, tennis, volleyball, basketball, fishing and playgrounds. The village also operates a swimming pool during the summer months. The village operates a municipally owned water system that provides for the communities water needs. On an average day the system provides 450,000 gallons of well water to its 1,800 customers. The system includes three wells, 121,000 feet of water main, a water tower and an in-ground reservoir. In 1994, the village water department was recognized as the Wisconsin “System of the Year” by the Rural Water Association. Drinking Water Quality Report (Organic Contaminants & Radioactive Contaminants) 2007 Consumer Confidence Report - North Fond du Lac Waterworks The village operates a municipally owned sanitary sewer collection system. The system includes sewer mains, laterals, 1 lift station, 1 metering station and a 3.6 million gallon holding tank. The village’s wastewater treatment is provided by the City of Fond du Lac Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility. The village has made a great effort since 1998 to replace and enhance the system to eliminate sewer problems that had plagued the village in the past. The village operates its own refuse collection system. The one-man automated system collects refuse from 800 plus homes a day on Tuesday and Wednesday.
